In order to generate a new password for a user you must be an administrator. If you are not an administrator, you will have to contact your domain administrator and have him or her generate a new password for the user. If that is the case you should direct the domain administrator to this article, which is an easy step-by-step guide to generating a new password for a user.
The password you generate will provide you with access to the company in question as well as to all the other companies - in the same portal - in which the user has an identity.
The easiest way to generate a new temporary password for a user is the following:
First you must select one of the companies in which the user has an identity. Then access "Administration".
And then Offices and Users:
In Offices and Users do the following:
- First you click on the user’s name in the office hierarchy on the left (you can use the tab "Users" to search for users by name)
- Click on the tab "Details"
- Click on "Generate a password".
After that is done:
- Check the box "The password will be sent to the user’s e-mal xxxxxx@xxxxxxx".
- Finally click on "Generate a password"
The user should now receive a new temporary e-mail at this e-mail address. This e-mail address is also the user’s Username.
If all the steps above were done as instructed it should look something like this:
The temporary password that you have generated is a single use password. So when the user logs on using this password for the first time, the user will be asked to create a new, personal password to use in the future.
For a few companies the simple way of generating a password as shown above does not work. In that case, here is another way of generating a new password for a user:
Access "Administration" and "Offices and Users"once again and:
- Click on the user’s name in the office hierarchy on the left (you can use the tab "Users" to search for users by name).
- Click on the tab "Details"
- On this tab check the check box "Edit user name/password".
When you check the check box "Edit user name/password", you will be able to see what the user’s user name is – which is normally the user’s -email address. You can also change the user’s user name here, but normally only the password should be changed.
Then you must check the check box: "Require the user to change his/her password on next login".
When that is done, write in a separate document a password that is a minimum of 8 characters long. This password must contain at least two numbers, at least one special character, that is not a letter or number, plus a combination of upper and lower case letters. Copy this password from your separate document and insert it into the text field "Password" and in "Repeat Password".
Please take extra care to not include any spaces before or after the password when copying the password from your separate document into the Ibistic test fields "Password" and in "Repeat Password".
N.B!: Make sure to click "Save" before logging out or clicking away from this page
When you completed these steps, the user will have received a new password in Ibistic. But since the user would like to know the new password, you once again copy the password from your separate document and send it to the user in whatever way you prefer; like say e-mail, IM etc.
The temporary password that you have generated is a single use password. So when the user logs on using this password for the first time, the user will be asked to create a new, personal password to use in the future.
